Chelsea fans claim Tim Sherwood was right as Cole Palmer overtakes Jude Bellingham with incredible stat

Cole Palmer added two more strikes to his season’s tally to overtake Jude Bellingham in terms of goal involvements.

The Chelsea midfielder was on top form once again as he fired in a classy double in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

He now has 30 goal involvements in all competitions this season – one more than Real Madrid maestro Bellingham.

In total, Palmer has chipped in with 18 goals and 12 assists in all competitions from 38 matches.

And he could have had more assists to his name if Raheem Sterling had tucked away his late attempt after being picked out by the 21-year-old.

Palmer also created Chelsea history against the Clarets having become the youngest player to register at least 20 Premier League goal involvements in his debut campaign – and just the fifth overall.

And Blues fans believe this proves that Tim Sherwood was right in his assessment of the England international and his Chelsea teammates.

In an interview with Palmer earlier this month, Sherwood told the ex-Manchester City midfielder that the team should be built around him – insisting, ‘All you need is some good players to play with.’

While Palmer was praised for how he handled the awkward praise, Chelsea fans believe the disappointing display proves Sherwood was correct in the squad not being good enough.

Taking to X, one supporter posted: “Sherwood was absolutely spot on with what he said to Palmer the other week.”

Another said: “Tim Sherwood was getting attacked for stating the truth in that Palmer interview. He was right.”

A third added: “Sherwood was right in what he said to Palmer.”

This fan then remarked: “Tim Sherwood is right, Palmer is playing with s*** players and an horrendous manager.”

And one messaged: “He said it at the wrong place and wrong time, but there’s a lot of truth to the statement sadly.”

Meanwhile this user simply stated: “He was absolutely spot on.”
