‘Eight pints’ deep Jamie Carragher ‘slurs’ his words as he does hilarious interview with Jadon Sancho

Jamie Carragher admitted he was ‘slurring’ his words while speaking to Jadon Sancho after necking ‘eight pints’.

While appearing as a pundit for CBS Sports, Liverpool legend Carragher joined the fans in the famous Yellow Wall at the Signal Iduna Park as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

Manchester United loanee Sancho was the man of the match with a sublime display, including some phenomenal stats, while Niclas Fullkrug scored the only goal of the game.

The Englishman spoke to CBS Sports after the match with Man United icon Peter Schmeichel and Carragher, who had admitted he might have had a bit too much to drink.

But first Carragher, who was spotted chugging pints outside the ground, had some explaining to do after CBS Sports host Kate Abdo asked him if he was sober enough to conduct an interview.

He replied: “You know what, that is a fair point because I haven’t had too much to eat. I’ve had a cheeseburger at about half two.

“It might explain why I am slurring my words. I’ve had about eight pints in the Yellow Wall! I’ve got a new family, a family of friends, we all look after each other, I gave them a few bob after half time.”

At this moment, Carragher managed to flag down Sancho, who was bundled in between the former defender and Schmeichel and might have been forgiven for feeling a little overwhelmed.

In the studio, Thierry Henry had his head in his hand while Micah Richards guffawed in amazement, saying: “He’s got his arm around him!”

An excited Carragher, meanwhile, with a loving hand on his shoulder, spoke at length about his eye-opening experience with the Dortmund fans as Sancho tried to keep his cool.

Carragher went on: “Tonight, I was in the Yellow Wall. The great thing about the Yellow Wall is the atmosphere. It is not the best view in the world, I thought you played well.

“But Thierry Henry, Alessandro Del Piero and Micah Richards are in the studio and they have been absolutely raving about your performance.”

Sancho replied: “I appreciate it but it is not over. We still have got to go to Paris and hopefully we can get the job done, I appreciate the comments and hopefully we can carry on.”

Carragher then asked him: “Jadon, if you get to the final, can we have a few pints together?”

Sancho palmed off the ex-England international, quipping: “I don’t drink,” before shaking hands and making a quick getaway.

Dortmund might be ahead in the tie but could have been more ahead with several chances for the home side.

However, PSG will also be ruing their mistakes in front of goal with Ousmane Dembele firing over late in the contest from a brilliant position.

Kylian Mbappe also hit the post while the rebound eventually fell to Achraf Hakimi, who then hit the other frame of the goal.

It sets up a finely poised tie at the Parc des Princes, which will kick off next Tuesday.
